(This article takes 7 minutes to read which you can actually learn something.)
Recently, in my hometown, in the southwestern China.
Slowly discovering that all backwardness and decline have traces to follow
01 A customer complaint
When I was watching a movie in a private cinema, due to a tight film library, I asked the boss if it was possible to use my own mobile phone to protect the screen and calculate the time spent on a movie to pay for it. For example, if they charge 80 for a movie, I would also pay the same amount. At the beginning, I would watch the time and remind me when it's time. Delays would also be charged extra
As a result, the boss refused in one breath.
I was very angry at the time and asked, 'Why can't I choose the movie I want to watch when your income is the same?'????
I actually want to ask: Why are you not willing to keep an extra customer when you don't have any losses?
But the boss didn't speak at the time
The bartender said, 'Sorry, miss, we haven't opened this feature yet.'
Later on, I carefully observed that their device supports screen projection, but the main reason they are still unwilling to do so is: It's too troublesome
Let's talk about the story later. Anyway, after watching the movie, I was just thinking about a few questions
I first asked myself the first question:
Are they not aware of the impact of doing so on customer churn
I thought for a moment, but the answer is no
It is obvious that my expression of displeasure at the time and the act of actively asking me how much membership card I have left have already indicated my dissatisfaction with their products or services, and there is a risk of loss
Then I asked myself the second question:
Is this the only private cinema in our small and dilapidated place In other words, although not fully populated, are they still that unique existence?
The answer is clearly no, because in the commercial area, I can count five cinemas of the same type and at similar prices with one hand
Finally, I asked myself my third question:
Am I their irreplaceable customer
Is my single consumption not a significant proportion of their daily consumption

I just thought about it for a moment and felt that I naturally made them irreplaceable customers
It is obvious that the Chinese New Year is their peak season, and even during the peak season, the highest occupancy rate for large, medium, and small bags is 90%
- This is because I have been there too many times and the results of Monte Carlo observations
- In fact, during the busiest moments, cinemas have at least one room left to accommodate the audience. In other words, their moneymaking assembly line has not yet reached saturation at its peak, let alone off-season
So, in this situation, it is obvious that supply exceeds demand, and consumers dominate, so they should not let any consumer go
Later on, I realized that this problem was not so simple and needed to be calculated
And then I found out that excluding others, from an economic perspective alone, I'm actually not that important

The following is the calculation process
The average duration of a movie is 1.5 hours, and private cinemas are open 24 hours a day. For example, during the Spring Festival period (70% of the rest are calculated based on the spring period)
During the peak season of passenger traffic, we call it 10:00 to 20:00, totaling 10 hours
- A private room can screen 6.67 movies, with an average attendance rate of 85% during this time
So on average, one private room can screen 5.67 movies
- During the off-season of customer traffic, we will be running from 20:00 to 10:00, totaling 14 hours
A private room can show a total of 9.33 movies, with an average attendance rate of 50% during this time
So on average, one private room can screen 4.67 movies
Therefore, on average, one private room can screen 10.34 movies throughout the day
There are 5 large package viewing theaters, 5 medium package viewing theaters, and 5 small package viewing theaters
According to my observation, the occupancy rate of small and medium-sized packages is not much different
Let's assume they are the same in this case
During the Spring Festival, the large package cinema costs 150 yuan/event, the medium package costs 120 yuan/event, and the small package costs 110 yuan/event
The membership price is always 80 yuan per session (members account for about 20% of all customers)
So, this private cinema's daily receivables
(150 * 0.8+80 * 0.2) * 10.34 * 5+(120 * 0.8+80 * 0.2) * 10.34 * 5+(110 * 0.8+80 * 0.2) * 10.34 * 5
The final result is 7031.2+5790.4+5376.8=18198
This part only includes the fee for single play movies
The front desk lady always promotes related drinks and snacks. Assuming that 50% of people choose to purchase products worth approximately 20 yuan in a total of 155=10.34 * (5+5+5) sessions per day, the income from this portion is 1550
In summary
It is expected that the daily accounts receivable of private cinemas during the Spring Festival period should fluctuate around 20000 yuan*
Note: Except for the Spring Festival, the price for the large package cinema is 120 yuan/event, for the medium package it is 98 yuan/event, and for the small package it is 70 yuan/event; At the same time, the remaining time for members is 50 yuan/session
So during the Spring Festival, when faced with an "alternative demand" from a member who only needs to pay 80 yuan, the front desk lady has the confidence to disdain it
- Because customer nim, you're causing me a lot of trouble
You and I may not know how to cast the screen yet, but what about the time cost?
- Because customer nim, I will help you adjust the equipment
What is my performance cost without being allowed to deduct my salary by my boss?
- Because customer nim, the money in your membership card has already been charged
And people like you who love watching movies cannot escape
But this is not to say how remarkable a person I am, how superior a need I have put forward: it's just that as an individual, I want to ask if they have the possibility of embracing uniqueness. Because for a special customer like me, when I have a need to go to a private cinema to watch a movie, I definitely don't just go casually. I take notes, study, think about life, and plan - of course everyone does. However, for me, this demand has recently been limited to movies in the field of expertise and suspense reasoning. So when I found out that their products no longer meet my needs, I proposed another feasible solution
The boss refused, of course I'm not happy
- But in fact, after watching the last movie they recommended that afternoon, I cried for a bag of paper and felt that my time was not in vain
- This ironically proves that the boss doesn't actually need to meet my initial "alternative" needs to numb me through his existing service , and he can successfully make me very satisfied, which actually meets his customer service needs

As a humble financial person, from the perspective of the boss, I believe that he has actually lost a good opportunity to expand the market. Since no one in this small and dilapidated city has formed a habit of projecting mobile movies to private cinemas and charging the same amount, launching this service may actually attract more people
The label of these people is: The progressive youth who cannot install projection screens at home and have a bit of a petty bourgeoisie vibe (such as me)
I personally believe that with the faster development of the times and the faster updates in the level of informatization and intelligence, progress and diversified demand are inevitable trends, and the cost of refusing to accept such new trends is only to be eliminated**
This paragraph is purely driven by financial people. Their boss relies on private cinemas to make a living, and the whole business can earn tens of thousands of yuan in a day, which is actually quite good

02 Supermarket Small City Circulation
The second story is simpler than the first because I have a solution in the second story
I went to the supermarket to buy things, and during the New Year's Eve shopping period, everyone was very congested. However, when I checked out, I was surprised to find that people had formed a long queue in front of the only * * 4 manual checkout machines * *, even though there was still one available * * 8 automatic checkout machines * *
I was overjoyed at the time and quickly and decisively used the last automatic settlement machine to pay for the bill and leave
But I thought again:
The queue is full of elderly people, don't you understand? I see many middle-aged people in the team
Later on, my conclusion was that everyone thought it was okay to wait for a while
And my personal deeper conclusion is that when we accept an environment and a setting that includes work, identity, and personality, do we gradually lose our ability to observe details in life

This story has had the same impact on me as the previous one
Many things I take for granted: for example, when I see a certain high-tech and new idea, I will definitely give it a try regardless of whether I lose face or not; They think it's amazing here
They take things for granted: for example, my dad is passionate about letting me take turns toasting at unfamiliar banquets, even though I may not have any chance to interact with them in the future; I actually think it's amazing
And we have a mutual understanding
In summary, these two short stories gave me a lot of thought. At least, I like to pretend that I have a high level of thinking, so since I have thought about it, I should quickly write it down. Otherwise, the initial anger of being rejected tomorrow will be completely forgotten
